PRESTON L. HOFER

Preston is the Managing Partner of Harper Hofer & Associates. His specialties are in the Valuation, Litigation, and Income Taxation areas of our practice. 

Preston’s experience includes business valuations for marital dissolutions, estate and gift tax reporting, partner and shareholder disputes, business sales, damages relating to loss of business value, and malpractice defense.  He is very experienced in marital dissolution matters, having provided services in this area since 1988.  His specific expertise in marital dissolutions, in addition to business valuations, includes income analysis, lifestyle/spending analysis, separate property analysis, and tracing.  Preston has been qualified as an expert witness in most jurisdictions in Colorado.  He is also involved in all aspects of income taxation including income tax planning and consultation as well as income tax return preparation. 

Preston has been a part of Harper Hofer & Associates since 2009.  Prior to joining HHA, he worked with the national accounting firm of CBIZ for 10 years, the local accounting firm of Shenkin Kurtz and Baker for 15 years, and the national accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins and Sells for 5 years. 

He served for nine years on the board of Mennonite Economic Development Associates including as board chair for three years.  MEDA is an international economic development organization providing its economic development expertise throughout the world.  Preston also served on the Athletic Advisory Board for Dordt University.  He also has extensive hospitality expertise, being a lead partner in a hotel development group since 1994, which currently owns hotels in Colorado and Wyoming and previously also owned hotels in South Dakota and Nebraska.

Preston enjoys spending time with his family including his four children and eight (sure to be more) grandchildren.  He is also an avid fan of the Denver sports teams and you can often find him at Nuggets, Avs, Broncos, or Rockies games.
